| Notfall!!! Kleiner Textkorrektur |

Hallo!
Brauche ihn morgen.
Danke!!
Aboriginal rock art is a part of traditional painting and engraving, which streches back thousands of years. Some of the oldest surviving examples is much over 40 000 years old.
Aboriginies belonge to many different groups, that has their own languages, country, legends, histories and ceremonies. So there is a wide varity of styles and subjetct in the rock art. But altought all Aboriginal people shared a similar way of live.
Rock engravings
Engraving is a very old technique. They are made by removing part of a rock either by rubbing (abradet design) or by hitting (pecked design) it with a stone or other object.
Rock paintings
Unlike engravings, the rock paintings were made in shelters, where they are protectet from a weather by an overhand. Rockpaintings are found all over Australia.
The Aboriginal painters used earth colours : red, browns, and yellows, black and white, from natural indigrends. Red was a very important, often sacred, colour. It came from a variety of ochres and minerals. Certain red ochres were so highly valued that people would travel or trade over hundredts of kilometres to obtain them. Yellow came from a several sources such as ochre, dust, minerals and a certain kind of fungus. Magnese ocide, crushed charcoal or charred bark provided the colour black, and white came from kaolin or pipeclay.
There are many ways to paint: For stancilled designs, paint was blown from the mouth. Other figures were painted with using fingers, the palm of the habd, sticks or feathers, brushes, which is made from grasses, chewed twigs, narrow stripes of strinfybark or palm leaves.
Subjects and styles
Aboriginies made pictures of a wide variety of subjects like humans, birds, animals, fish, reptiles, animal tracks and abstract designs. Many of these works were connectet with religion, ritual and ceremony. The abstract designs often contained ,,coded” information.
Rockpainting is a kind of ,pictorial history book” too. So there are painting from sailing ships of white settlers, weapons, tools and their pets
Aging of rock art
Rock paintings are remarkably fragile an can damaged by wind sun, rain, fire and dust
The painting can damaged by birds, insects like temites and mud wasps too.
Plants like moulds, fungi, algae and lichen grows over the painting sites.
But the most damaging of alle are the activities of visitors. Just a little touching can destroy a rock paining.
Protection
Many measures to protect the paintings are being taken. So fences are putted to keep aut animals and building barriers to keep cars and campfire on distance.
Another way is to teach the visitor about the sensibility of the paintings and engravings.
